Long waits are the complaint we see most from Good Sam Roadside members in 2026. People get an arrival window, the window passes, and they're stuck on the shoulder with an RV.

Extended Service Plan (ESP)
Good Sam ESP claim denied as "pre-existing" or wear and tear
The biggest ESP complaint on ComplaintsBoard is a claim denied because the failure was "pre-existing" or wear and tear. Engines and piston rings show up again and again.
ESP won't cover the slideout, fridge, AC or axle
A lot of ESP complaints are about one part. Slideout wiring, fridge cooling units, rooftop AC, axles. People believed they were covered and found out they weren't.
Fixed it first, got denied: the ESP pre-authorization trap
Good Sam's own claims page says the shop has to call in an estimate and get approval before work starts. Skip that step and the claim is usually dead.
ESP paid less than the shop bill: labor rate caps
Members say the ESP pays a set labor rate and set hours. If your shop charges more, you pay the gap.

Refund cut, refused, or your membership cancelled on you
Members describe refunds cut after one use, refunds refused until they sent a demand letter, and "unlimited" plans cancelled for being used too much.
Surprise charges: late fees, TravelAssist billing, declined-then-charged
A smaller group of complaints is about money taken without warning: repeated late fees on the Good Sam credit card, monthly TravelAssist charges, and a $60 cancellation fee.

Auto or RV insurance claim lowballed or denied
Good Sam Insurance Agency is an agency. The policies come from National General carriers (Integon, MIC General, National General Assurance and others, per Good Sam's California licensing page). A 2026 storm claim was denied from dealer photos, with no adjuster visit. Our founder's truck claim paid about $3,000 on a $7,000+ Toyota estimate.
Promised a rental car that never came
Our founder was told a rental was coming while his truck sat waiting on repairs. Six weeks later, there's still no rental and the truck is still down.
